Question:  I switched to a vegan diet following a heart attack at a young age. I feel great and I intend to remain vegan. There is however one side effect that is really bothersome: flatulence. I often release this horribly hydrogen/sulphur-smelling gas that I’m embarrassed to let out even in the bathroom. Any suggestions? Click for Answer

Question: I have been dealing with hemorrhoids for the last few months. I went to see my doctor and he gave me medicine that seemed to makes things better. Question: Hello Exsalus Health & Wellness Center, as I continue to consider changing my eating habits, can you help me with the following questions:

1. Have there been many scientific studies of the benefits of a plant-based diet vs. animal-based diet?

2. Is it true that calcium deficiency does not exist?

3. How much calcium should we consume from our diet?

4. Yogurt promotes digestive health but it is a dairy product; is this a false claim? 

5. What about flax seed oil?

6. How many fruits and veggies should be eaten per day?

7. When is a multivitamin necessary?

8. There are so many diet theories out there, how do we know which ones are the right ones or which ones we shouldn’t actually use?

9. How am I supposed to believe you over what we have always been told?

Question: I am concerned about getting enough protein without milk and meat in my diet. I wonder if you have a list of vegetables and their protein content? Also, what is the amount of protein we need to consume per day? And what about 'complete' proteins or eating complementary protein combinations like beans and rice together, does that matter?

Question: I am athletic, healthy, and following a pretty strict low fat, plant-based diet but can’t seem to lose those last few pounds. Any advice?

Question: My Dad was diagnosed in August with esophagus cancer, he had a tumor in his esophagus, since that time he had chemo and radiation on his neck area to shrink the tumor, it worked, it did shrink that one but we just found out that now he has two more tumors in different locations in the esophagus and the cancer has spread to his stomach.  At this point, it looks as if there is no hope, (cancer to me are like evil cells eating the remaining good ones taking over a body making a person suffer), this is awful and I need advice, is it to late  for any hope??
